The Violence and Intentional Injury Prevention Program (VIIPP), which includes the statewide SASS Project, is located at the Institute for Children, Youth and Families in the College of Human Ecology at Michigan State University. The Violence and Intentional Injury Prevention Program is committed to the reduction of violence through research, outreach, and community involvement. To this end, we:

• conduct interdisciplinary research on violence related issues
• conduct research and program evaluation
• produce public education and leadership programs to create information networks
• build strong relationships and support our community partners through outreach
• provide research, resource, and technical support to other violence prevention agencies and initiatives

As a renowned land grant university, Michigan State University (MSU) is dedicated to applying knowledge to solving problems. Given its location in the state capital and its tradition of service to the state, MSU has particular knowledge about the functioning of state and local government. The Institute for Children, Youth, and Families capitalizes on this strength in addressing public policy issues as they relate to pressing social problems such as violence.
